….. I think Dan Jenkins woulda liked it. I’m not sure if author Dan Jenkins is dead or not. I don’t think he is. Dan referred to pro golfers as “those dogged victims of inexorable fate” and why he did was certainly on display on Masters Sunday …… and a goofy athlete named “Bird” is dead (not the one from last Monday).

….. For 99% of you – knowledge of South Dakota consists of “its just below North Dakota, isn’t it.” Well I know a whole lot more than I knew a week ago. My experience has made me a stronger, wiser BobLee. It is a very very cool (“neat”) place; …. and I escaped by the hair of my chinny chin chin.

….. Several small groups of students brought national attention to the storied campus just south of quaint Franklin Street in the month of April. Fans and foes of the institution all agree that “they” were “typical” of what one might expect of Carolina students …… depending, of course, upon which small group of students one might be referring to.

….. I knew “that Morehead column” would ruffle some feathers. View #s for that column were twice the norm. A handful of Take Me To Task e-mails were surely but a tip to the iceberg. The “beg to differs” were very rational and none resorted to dreaded ALLCAPS. I send the ALLCAPS ones to Janet Napoliatano. ….. and Little Johnny plays footsie with Congressional clowns.

….. It seemed like a good idea at the time. And, it WAS a good idea, but Lord Have Mercy it about “tore out my heart and stomped that sucker flat” (credit Lewis Grizzard for that line). Today is Kid’s 21st birthday! This is “one of THOSE columns” involving Perry Como, Beverly Perdue, Grizzard, and goodness knows who else by the time I’m done.

…… Lets take a break from Obama’s bowling and brackets. Today BobLee pays his sincere respect to quite a special place – The Greenbrier Hotel. The venerable 5-star resort in West Virginia declared bankruptcy last week. It was part of a young BobLee’s life journey in the mid 70s …..

….. Farrah Fawcett is in her final days from a several years fight with cancer. She is 62. The most recent Celebrity Death Trifecta included Jack Kemp, Bea Arthur and Las Vegas’ Danny Gans. I’m in a Dead Pool with my very very irreverent in-laws. I had Farrah in this most recent one. …. When Farrah does leave us, a significant part of Baby Boomerism goes with her.

Among the great phrases of history that morphed into our pop-culture was Horace Greeley’s “Go West young man”.” 99.99% of documented Americans have no clue who Mr Greeley was or why he said that. The remaining .01% think he was advising Walter O’Malley to move his Dodgers from Flatbush to Chavez Ravine.
