For well over a decade I have beseeched you all to come to your senses before it is too late. Our great nation will one day sink under the weight of (1) too many bowl games (2) too many Progressive Insurance commercials and (3) waaay too much concern for “what color best attracts semi-literate 17 y/os”.
The headline read PJ Done. It’s Over. I smirked. The saga of “PJ” simply moves into the eternal bubbling caldron of rivalry crap known as The Amphibious File. The reaction to PJ DONE News was absolutely 100% predictable across the spectrum of partisan POVs.
I, BobLee-stradamus predicted all this 12-14 years ago. I am neither surprised nor dismayed as all my cyber-quatrains are unfolding. I predicted that: The Internet will generate radical change in “Big Time Sports” . It has. WHO SHOT (JR)… MACK BROWN ??

Saturday was “a bountiful feast” for fans of college football. Comparable I guess to either of several weekends of March Madness for college basketball fans. I risked carpal tunnel syndrome working the remote back & forth.
It was a moment that screamed for Keith Jackson’s “Whoa Nellie”. It was as incredible a sports theater moment as you’re ever likely to witness. The only similar moments are a certain “Air ball in Albuquerque” in 1983. “Eli’s pass to David Tyree” and I suppose Gio’s punt return merits slight comparison too.
Deal with it. Duke Football is pretty darn good. Not great but pretty darn good…. and not a fluke. That’s a good thing for The ACC. This Saturday’s Duke Comes To Kenan encounter is officially “a very tough ticket”.
The Broadcasting Hall of Fame already has it . Known as “BobLee (& that other guy) Interviews The Commish”; our Good Sports’ 30-minutes with ACC Major Domo John Swofford this past Saturday is already available on Pay-For-Listen.
Oh, I don’t know. Maybe I’m simply a better human being than the average slack-jawed, goggle-eyed, spittle-spewing shlub that follows sports. I prefer to think I’m not alone in being able to cheer unabashedly for “them” when “them” are supposedly hated rivals.
Who is sadder this week….. a hard-core daffy Duck fan or an equally hard-core Wolfpack fan? There are numerous other examples one could use to compare the risks of making an emotional investment in a sports program.

Did you know that each of the top 100 Big Time College Football schools are firmly convinced that they were the inspiration for the phrase “same old __________ football %^$#@”. “They” are all sure that their team has disappointed them more consistently over the years than any other program in America.
